Sun City Center (officially Great Sun Center) is an incorporated, age-restricted community about 20 miles south of Tampa and near Ruskin. It is home to an active adult community of the same name, in addition to another called Kings Point. Sun City Center has its own government and about 31,000 residents (2020). Most of the homes single family dwellings, but there are also duplexes, townhouses, and apartments. It has its own hospital and several nursing home facilities. It is legal to drive golf cars on the street during daylight; most shopping has special parking slots for them. There are several golf courses, about 20 various hobby shops, an outdoor and two indoor pools in the main clubhouse area. There are clubs for almost any interest or hobby including ham radio, computers, sewing, cards, investments, and dancing.

Although we are not personally familiar with this community, we have seen discussion saying that since the community is long established that the average age of the residents (72) makes it less appealing to younger retirees. We suggest you visit it and see for yourself.
